Caucaia is a municipality in the State of Ceará that is nowadays one of the main tourist centers of the State. Its main attraction is Cumbuco beach, located 35 km from Fortaleza, capital of the State. Originally, Caucaia was an Indigenous village colonized by the Portuguese.
Cumbuco is known for its palm trees, mangroves and ponds, and also favors the practice of adventure sports, either moved by the wind (sailing, kite surfing), sea currents (sailing, surfing) or using the topography of the terrain (trekking, hiking).
Icaraí Beach is extensive and highly frequented by surfers because of its rough seas. Tabuba beach is a great option for a day of tranquillity. It is still not very well known and frequented mainly by the residents of Caucaia and nearby localities. During the day, visitors can tour through the sand dunes in buggy rides offered on the location.
Lagoa do Banana, situated between the sand dunes of Cumbuco Beach, has restaurants with typical food and seafood. There you may rent boats, jet-skis and banana-boats to enjoy the warm waters of the lagoon, or simply rest under the palm trees.
Visiting the local sand dunes is an almost mandatory experience. The most usual is to hire the services of one of the region's tourism agencies to go on a buggy, but the route can also be done in other ways.

The nearest international airport is the Fortaleza International Airport, which receives flights from Frankfurt, Bogota, Milan, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Praia and Miami.
Van
You can take a van in Fortaleza to go to the beaches of Icaraí, Tabuba, Cumbuco and Barra Nova.
Taxi
Leaving Fortaleza, you may take a bus and go to Caucaia. Calculate the fare and see the companies providing the service in the city. -
Bus
There are companies that provide transportation services in the city. In Cumbuco, the terminal is in the center, at the end of the main street, in the direction of Jericoacoara.
