Aracaju is in the state of Sergipe, in the Northeast region of Brazil. Needless to say that its beaches allow resting, having fun and joy in the midst of a beautiful view of sand dunes, coconut trees and warm water, following the example of the Orla do Atalaia, the main landmark of the city. It is 6 km long with a large leisure complex, hotels and restaurants.

There is also the Oceanário, with 18 aquariums of several species of Brazilian marine fauna, administered by the Projeto Tamar, an example of the preservation of turtles in Brazil.

But Aracaju does not only have beaches. The city is one of the capitals with the best quality of life in the country. Modern, young, quiet, full of bicycle lanes and very well planned, the destination has streets designed to end at the Sergipe river, which runs through the town and empties into the sea.

Make use of the river banks to understand the history of Sergipe's capital city, starting with the Ponte do Imperador, an area through which the Emperor Dom Pedro II came on a visit to the province. In the Historic Center, you can find churches, monuments and museums, as well as shopping centers, crafts and regional food.

To experience the flavors of the cuisine and the beauty of the culture of the state, the Popular Market of Aracaju – formed, in fact, by three markets – is the space that brings it all together in one place. Try the tropical fruits and seafood-based dishes, such as crab, a symbol of the city’s cuisine. There you will also take a trip through the cultural diversity, crafts, literature, tools, clothing, and embroidery stalls that the market has to offer.

In the second half of the month of June, the square between the markets is the stage of the biggest festa junina (traditional festivity of the Brazilian winter) of the State, the Forró Caju. The event has a scenic theme town, delicious, typical foods and cheerful quadrilhas (traditional dances of the festas juninas, not too dissimilar from the North American square dancing of old).

Aracaju has emerged as an excellent tourist location for the quality of its attractions and its tranquility. And, of course, everything is seasoned with the intense flavor of the Brazilian Northeast.
