Amapá is one of Brazil's 27 Federative Units

Amapá has a strong connection with the rich cultural traditions of the Amazon rainforest and the Indigenous, African and Portuguese heritages.

With less than 1% of its area deforested, the State offers attractions such as the railway trip to the Serra do Navio, where you can enjoy the Amazonian fauna and flora.

The State capital, Macapá, is the only northern city bordered by the enormous Amazon River. There, in March and September, you can observe the equinócio, a phenomenon where the two hemispheres are illuminated by the sun, causing the day and the night to last exactly 12 hours long each.

Another natural event that can be seen in Amapá is the pororoca, when ocean waters meet the river waters and form waves of up to 5 m tall. In places where this phenomenon occurs, as in the Canal do Inferno at Maracá Island, several adventurers try to surf.
