Completely renovated with new equipment, the Independnce Square is the new touristic site of the city of Altamira.

Independence Square was founded in the 70's and it was for many years one of the main meeting place of the residents and tourists of Altamira, state of Pará.

In 2015, the Square was renovated and got new equipment as part of the modernization of the city and boosted by Belo Monte plant construction.

Located on the banks of Xingu River and near to Cais do Porto and the campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Squares has now a bandstand, children's playground, sports courts, food court, outdoor gym, bmx track, skate track, amphitheater and multipurpose area.

You can visit the place during at night because the security has been enhanced. It is a nice tour for the whole family.

Square is next to the Cais do Porto, another great attraction to visit.
